Aia I Kohala Ka`u Aloha - Chant

Aia i Kohala kaʻu aloha
Ka ua naulu o Kawaihae

Hae ana Wapine i ke aumoe
Ka ʻilio hanu hele ma ka meheu

Na ke kelepona au i haʻi mai
Ua noho hope ʻoe no ko lei

I laila kulu iho kuʻu waimaka
Hoʻopulu ʻana i ka lau lihilihi

He lihi kuleana koʻu ia ʻoe
Ua hoʻopaʻa ʻia i ka puʻuwai

Na wai ʻole koʻu aloha
I ka ua loku mai i ka nahele

O hele i ka la o ke kauoha
A hoʻi mai ʻoe pili kaua

O ʻoe a ʻowau ka i ʻike iho
I nei mea nui la he aloha

Haʻina ʻia mai ana ka puana
ʻEono no pua lawa kuʻu lei
My sweetheart is in Kohala
With the wind-borne rain of Kawaihae

Wapine sets up a barking late at night
That dog that sniffs at the footprints

It was the telephone that told me
That you are again with your darling

Then my tears began to gather
Wetting the tips of my lashes

I have some right to you
For you are imprinted in my heart

How can I help loving
The rain pours in the forest

Go and obey the command given you
Then come back to be with me

You and I have known
This great thing called love

This ends my chant
For the six flowers that complete my lei
